Welcome to my Website

Hello, my name is Michael Topfer.   I am a keen swimmer, chorister, skier, scuba diver and historian. Husband, father of three sons and grandfather of two granddaughters.

My interest in history relates to family history, and also Tasmanian history, in particular history of the South Arm Peninsula. I have researched my family history and my ancestors include ten convicts, two were on the First Fleet, transported to Van Dieman's Land from Britain in the 1800's. Interested in learning more of the history of the South Arm Peninsula? Join the South Arm Peninsula History Facebook Group.

I enjoy musical theatre, in particular, Gilbert and Sullivan. I am past President of The Gilbert and Sullivan Society of Tasmania Inc. Unfortunately the Society has been wound up due to insufficient interest to keep it operating.

Members of my family have lived on the South Arm Peninsula for over 200 years. We enjoy spending time at South Arm, it has a wonderful community. It is Paradise with spectacular beaches, walking tracks and relaxed lifestyle. Find out more about the community of the South Arm Peninsula here!
